Okay, not really, but it was fun. Please tell me that I'm not the only person who has seen the musical State Fair? Really? I am. Okay, not so surprising seeing as I was obsessed with old movies as a little girl most of my movie quotes are met with a blank stare.
But we did go to the state fair and I had to show this very awesome picture that my Dad took of the boys and I. Not that I look great. In fact I'm not sure how I left the house wearing that outfit as now that I see it on camera it's not the most flattering. BUT, remember how I am trying to let myself be a part of the memories now?
Anyway, how great is that background? Oh how I wish it was not the last weekend for I would surely drag some willing family there for pictures. It reminds me of the movie "Big Fish". I love that movie and I love the old circus feel of this backdrop. All it needs is a couple in vintage clothing and it would be amazing! But as the fair ends tomorrow it's not going to happen. Grrrr...
So back to the state fair. The boys loved the animals and rides and they had this great section for kids that was a play farm. It was a really nice night. I'm glad that we went. It made me sad that we are going to miss the pumpkin show this year. We have been to the pumpkin show every year for the last three years in Circleville Ohio every October. It's so fun. You can pretty much find any food you want made of pumpkin. Pumpkin Chili (good), Pumpkin pizza( not so good), pie, ice cream, waffles, donuts, fudge (all good), fried pumpkin flowers ( surprisingly good). All in one place. It's the greatest and I'm sad I'm missing it. I love small town fairs. Does anyone here in Utah know of any great fall/harvest/pumpkin festivals or a good place to pick your own pumpkin? I really want to do that with the boy's this year.
Hope you all had a good weekend!
Such a cool photo, Candice. :)

Candice, I love that photo. I wish I would have known about the fair too--so fun to drag my own family to! There is a great "punkin patch" in Provo. I'll email you.

When I came to CA I was shocked by all the pumpkin patches, I NEVER went to one as a child, although I'm sure there's some now.
LOVE the photo though.
You are a rockstar.

I love love love that picture. The background is fabulous. I think you all look adorable. As far as pumpkin patches, there's Harward Farms in Springville, off the top of my head. And I know there's got to be some down in Mapleton or Spanish Fork. If we hear about any at school (we often do) I'll pass it along. Love this time of year. :)

Hi,
Thanksgiving Point in Lehi,Utah has a cute festival thing. A jumping pillow(the kids and I loved it),corn maze (ok) huge blown up dinosour thing that you walk in(kinda scary but fun) cow train ride (fun) and slide (way fun). They should have a website. They have pumpkins too, but I thought they were kinda pricey.
Another cool thing is Gardner Village- in october it is very halloween! With these cute motorized witches, etc. Enjoy and have fun!

we went to hee haw farms in pleasant grove last year (for my daughter's 4th b-day) and it was a great time. We went on like a friday afternoon rather than on saturday and we pretty much had the place to ourselves (no random little kids wandering through my photos!).

my absolute favorite pumpkin patch in utah is in santaquin at the red barn. we have gone for the past few years and once august hits my kids and even my husband are asking about when we are going to go. you ride on a hay wagon pulled by a tractor out to the patch...about a five minute ride. the tractor drops you off and you get to wander through the patch...which is huge...with great photo ops. you can pick any pumpkin you want and then take a ride back to the barn to pay for them...the barn also has really yummy apples and other fruits, jam and homemade icecream. it is a blast. if you have any questions about how to get there, let me know!

We made it to the fair early this year. Usually seems that we are rushing to go before it closes, but were able to spend more time there this year. Loved the little Farm for the kids! As far as pumpkin patches, we usually hit the patch just off of 9000S and about 2700W. Tons of great pumpkins to pick from and the prices are fairly reasonable. Have fun!
